چکیده

Non-carious cervical lesion (NCCL) is the loss of hard dental tissue commonly observed at the buccal and labial tooth surfaces at the cementoenamel junction (CEJ). Most NCCLs of teeth can be classified into four categories: attrition, erosion, abrasion, and stress-induced cervical lesion. Stress-induced cervical lesions are loss of tooth structure that results from repeated tooth flexure caused by occlusal stresses. These lesions are generally wedge shaped and were previously termed idiopathic cervical erosion lesion, later called abfractions by Grippo. Stress Distribution in Four Restorative Methods in Endodontically Treated Maxillary Premolar: A 3D Finite Element Analysis

Introduction: the Restoration of endodontically treated teeth is critical, and the Awareness of stresses developed by oblique and vertical forces in restorative methods take a great role in treatment plans. Due to the anatomical shape and inherent form of the stress distribution premolars, could be lost by fractures. Some fractures such as vertical fracture which is probable in...

Finite Element Analysis of the Effect of Proximal Contour of Class II Composite Restorations on Stress Distribution

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of proximal contour of class II composite restorations placed with straight or contoured matrix band using composite resins with different modulus of elasticity on stress distribution by finite element method. Methods: In order to evaluate the stress distribution of class II composite restorations using finite element method, upper ...

Stress distribution of Class V composite resin restorations: A three-dimensional finite element study

This study was to investigate the influence of composite resins with different elastic modulus, cavity modification and occlusal loading condition on the stress distribution of restored notch-shaped noncarious cervical lesion using 3-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) analysis. The extracted maxillary second premolar was scanned serially with Micro-CT. The 3D images were processed by 3D-DOCTO...

Microleakage comparison of three types of adhesive systems versus GIC-based adhesive in class V composite restorations

Background and aims: New dentin bonding agents and techniques have been developed to reduce microleakage and create higher bond strength. This in-vitro study compared the microleakage of three resin-based adhesives versus a GIC-based adhesive on class V composite restorations.  Materials and Methods: Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 72 sound premolars, randomly assigned ...

Evaluation of fracture resistance and failure risks of posterior partial coverage restorations.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Interest in posterior partial coverage restorations has increased because these restorations provide a more conservative treatment option than traditional cohesively based restorations; however, material selection has been a controversial topic in the current literature. PURPOSE To evaluate the fracture resistance of posterior partial coverage restorations restored with d...
